The group Khameleon was formed in 1993 and initially consisted of five musicians playing original jazz-rock and blues compositions. After winning the Grand Prix at the Rock-Urok festival in 1994, the band began active concert work in Moscow clubs, but limited commercial demand for those styles in Russia later led to internal creative disagreements.
